My last parcel arrived on Friday and I forgot to take a pic before opening it. But I wanted to know what is inside asap ;-) I found the Sock Journal - patterns for each month of the year and ....I will get 4 issues of Vogue Knitting!

My second parcel

About a fortnight ago I received my second parcel from my Secret Pal.

I have now a woolwinder and more Lorna Laces. The more I have, the more I love them.

Dear Secret Pal, thank you very much for your parcel. I will use the wollwinder after Christmas, when I have some days off.

My first parcel arrived

Today my first parcel from my Secret Pal arrived.

The envelope was covered with one of the SP9-buttons.

I opened the envelope as fast as I can. That was not so easy, because it was covered with tape.

Halloween is soon ;-)

And here you can see, what was in the envelope. My Pal read my blog and amazon wishlist very carefully :-)

A nice card my son loves very much, chocolade, sock yarn from Trekking, I have never used before and a book from Stephanie Pearl-McPhee, better known as Yarn Harlot.

Dear Secret Pal, thank you very much :-) I really love all items. The chocolate is delicious and the yarn colors are just beautiful.

A random fact about me

My hostess Nic asked me to tell a random fact about me. Here it is: I have so much books (more than 1000), that I do not have enough space to store them in my rooms. I love crime stories written from women. But I have to sell some of them to have money to buy new ones ;-)

1. What is/are your favorite yarn/s to knit with? What fibers do you absolutely *not* like?

I like to knit with sock yarn (like Opal, Regia etc.) and other natural fibers. I do not like acrylic.

2. What do you use to store your needles/hooks in?

I have a big box for it.

3. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced?

I have been knitting since 35 years now (with interruption). I think I am something between intermediate and advanced.

4. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list?

Yes of course I have. I love knitting books

5. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products, etc.)

I like fruity and spicy scents.

6. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy?

Sure I have. I love chocolate, nougat and marzipan.

7. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin?

I am not very good at other crafts and I cannot spin.

8. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (if your buddy wants to make you a CD)

I like nearly all kind of music. My computer can play MP3s. I have an MP3-stick for my way to work. I also like to listen to books.

9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand?

I like blue and red mostly, but also all bright colors. I do not like black and brown.

10. What is your family situation? Do you have any pets?

Married since 21 years, our son is nearly 15. We have a German shepherd (he lives outside the house) and two little rabbits.

11. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens or ponchos?

I wear scarves and mittens.

12. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit?

I like to knit socks and shawls.

13. What are you knitting right now?

I am knitting socks and a shawl.

14. Do you like to receive handmade gifts?

Yes of course!

15. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Bamboo, aluminum, plastic?

I prefer circular needles from Addi and I would die for circular needles from Knitpick, but I am not allowed to buy them :-(

16. Do you own a yarn winder and/or swift?

No I have not, but I would like to own both.

17. How old is your oldest UFO?

I have none.

18. What is your favorite holiday?

I love all days off

19. Is there anything that you collect?

Not really, but I want to have more knitting books and magazines.

20. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? What knitting magazine subscriptions do you have?

I would like to have the “knitting-pattern-a-day-calender 2007”. I would die for Lorna Laces. I have only one subscription – Interweave Knit.

21. Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn?

Not really at the moment.

22. Are you a sock knitter? What are your foot measurements?

Yes I am. My measurements are 37/38 (German size of shoe) I do not like long socks (only about 13 cm).
