Poetry Slam

Eigentlich findet Sven (Gym 10. Klasse) den Deutschunterricht nicht so prickelnd. Momentan behandeln sie das Thema Poetry Slam. Davon hatte ich noch nie vorher gehört. Jetzt kann ich mir zumindest ein wenig darunter vorstellen. Svens Hausaufgabe ist hier zu lesen und ich bilde mir ein, dass es ohne meine selbstgestrickten Deutschlandsocken nie zu diesem Poetry Slam gekommen wäre :-)

Das Leben einer Socke, Größe 45

Sie wurde gestrickt per Hand
Und sie ist Deutschland.
Schwarz-Rot-Gold hat sie
Aber getragen wird sie nie.
Doch eines Tages kam sie heraus aus der Schublade und wurde sofort angezogen. Sie glitt über den Fuß wie ein Schlittschuhläufer auf Eis. Die Socke freute sich und dann hörte sie es. Etwas Lautes schallte an ihr Ohr als jemand rief:,, Tor! “ Doch dann wurde es still. Sie wurde ausgezogen und weggelegt.
Und sie fühlte Trauer und Schmerz,
dass bricht ihr glatt das Herz.
Dann plötzlich hörte sie ein Knacken. Die Schublade wurde geöffnet und sie hoffte:,, Bitte, nimm mich! Nimm mich! ’’ Doch sie wurde nicht genommen, es waren andere, die genommen wurden. Wieder weinte sie, und sie weinte so lange, bis sie keine Träne mehr vergießen konnte. Sie neigte sich dem Ende zu und liegt im Staub. Und sie wird herausgenommen. Da passiert es. Sie bekommt ein Loch und somit wird sie weggeschmissen. Aber das Leben der Socke ist noch nicht vorbei. Sie wird wiederverwertet und nun ist sie eine schöne Flagge, die am Reichstag hängt.

What for a wonderful book for lace knitters. I saw some pics in a blog and fall in love. There is a German knitalong and I do not know if I want to take part..........I will think about it ;-)

A deadly yarn

Yesterday I finished reading "A deadly yarn" written by Maggie Sefton. I also read the two books before "Knit one, kill two" and "Needled to death".

It is the story about Kelly, an accountant, who came back to her hometown for the funeral of her Aunt Helen. The books are easy to read and they are really lovely. Like Miss Marple she is solving murders and of course - she knits. I can't awaite book no. 4 and I hope there will be more.

Sensational Knitted Socks

Last week this book also came onto my bookshelf and - I really love it! There are so lovely patterns in it. You can choose between 5 or 4 needles or circulars. The patterns variegate from simple to complicate, from 4 stitches to 12 stitches. I cannot decided which pattern to knit first. The only disadvantage - the book is not available in German.

I will try to knit a pattern every two months, because I do not want to stress me.

Vogue Knitting Shawls on the go

From my wollfee I got Vogue Knitting Shawls on the go. I just want to give a short review.

The book is hardcover and small, so that you can really take it with you. The first sides are the basics. There are 19 patterns in it, 3 for Beginners, 8 very easy, 6 for intermediate and 2 for experienced knitters. My favourites are the shawl from the cover and the vine-stitch wrap. I love the book very much and you got a lot of wonderful patterns for little money.
